What Is a Facial Sound Bath, and What Actually Happens?

It is the offering people ask about most and the one that is hardest to picture. Here is exactly what happens.

A woman lying back during a crystal bowl sound bath with botanical oils nearby

The short version

A facial sound bath is two practices held together. A sound bath played on crystal singing bowls, and a facial using botanical oils. You are guided into it with a meditation, and you leave with an oil you blended yourself.

It runs for around three hours in a group of no more than eight women. That length is deliberate. The point is that nothing has to be rushed.

What happens, in order

You arrive and settle. There is no rushing you onto a table. The session opens with a guided meditation, which for most people is the moment the week finally lets go.

Then comes the sound bath. Crystal singing bowls are played around you while you lie back. You do not have to concentrate or achieve anything. The sound does the work and your nervous system responds to it whether you are trying or not.

While that is happening, you receive a facial using oils chosen for your skin. Skin and sound at once is an unusual combination and it is why people find the ritual hard to compare to anything else they have booked.

You close with your own oil blend to take home.

Who it suits

Women who are tired in a way that a night of sleep has not fixed. Women who find sitting still difficult and want something that helps them do it. Women who want a facial but would rather it meant something.

You do not need any experience with sound healing, meditation or skincare. Most guests have never done any of it.

What to know before you book

Allow the full three hours and try not to schedule something straight afterwards. Most people come out slower than they went in, and driving straight into a meeting undoes a good part of it.

Wear something you are comfortable lying down in. Everything else is provided.

The ritual starts from $185 per person. If you are not sure whether it is the right fit, send a note and describe what you are after. It is a small studio and you will get a real answer.
